Reka is a New Zealand-bred variety developed by Plant & Food Research and one of the most popular blueberries grown in this country — and it's easy to see why. As an early-season variety, Reka is among the first to ripen each summer, delivering a welcome harvest ahead of most other cultivars.

The berries are medium to large in size, with a beautiful blue-black skin, firm texture, and a mild, sweet flavour that appeals to the whole family. Reka is a reliable and heavy-bearing bush with strong, upright growth and excellent disease resistance, making it a particularly easy variety to manage in the home garden.

Its early ripening makes Reka an ideal companion for mid and late-season varieties like Bluecrop or Nui, extending your harvest window significantly. If you only plant one blueberry, Reka is an outstanding first choice — but it truly shines when planted alongside others.
