Matai Magic is an attractive NZ native shrub featuring lush and glossy dark coloured foilage. New foilage is dark brown and ages to become verigated with brown and dark green.

This evergreen grows upright and compact habit to about 1.2 metres tall and 80cm across. Trim as necessary to encourage new growth. Performs best in full sun on a well-drained site and is tolerant to most soil conditions. It is commonly included in mixed planting or trimmed into a hedge.

This shrub of dark foilage contrasts well with lighter coloured plants and looks exception when planted against a light coloured wall.
