Merveille Sanguine Hydrangea (aka Bloody Marvellous) unique plant. Has rich dark chocolate foliage and super blood-red mophead flowers that gradually turn wine purple. In Europe this is called Merveille Sanguine which translates as Blood-coloured Marvel.

It can be a little tender and does prefer a light shade situation to prevent petal burn. Changes from deep red to a wine purple. Enriched, moist, free draining soil, sun-part shade. Soil conditions will effect flower colour. Blue flowers need acidic soil, and pink flowers need neutral to alkaline soils. It is hardy to cool climates.
