Portuuse Laurel

Portuuse Laurel

Prunus lusitanica forms a pyramidal shape with dark-green leaves. It produces panicles of scented, white flowers during the summer and is an excellent subject for pruning into any shape, form, or size.

Prunus lusitanica is evergreen and native to Spain and Portugal.

This is a popular ornamental tree in anyone’s garden.  Can be used as hedging or made into a standard as a feature.

Caring for Prunus lusitanica is relatively easy, as it is adaptable to a range of growing conditions. It grows well in full sun or partial shade and prefers well-drained soil with a neutral to acidic pH. It is also drought-tolerant once established and can withstand temperatures as low as -15°C.

It can be pruned at any time of the year, but it is best to avoid pruning in late summer or autumn as this can reduce the number of berries produced.

Height:  10 – 15 m x 3m (prune to your desired height)
